Hawkesbury Skills Inc.

Food for Thought

Our garden provides a safe, quiet and therapeutic resource for those with mental illness or intellectual disabilities.

The 'Food for Thought' activity involves people with mental illness and/or disabilities in the production and marketing of ornamental plants, and fruit and vegetables, while providing informal training and social interaction in a relaxed environment. Participants are invited to be involved in all aspects of running the horticultural site.

The gardens provide a relaxing, enjoyable and educational place to meet other people and get hands dirty while learning a variety of skills. The activities provide a meaningful and therapeutic environment that many people have benefited from for over a decade.

'Food for Thought' is currently funded by plant sales, charitable and private donations.

Plant sales are on every week day and the first Saturday of every month. All proceeds from plant sales go back to funding the activities at the garden. Hawkesbury Skills Inc. is a not for profit community organisation.
